Iron Cupcake Challenge

Yesterday I went to the Iron Cupcake Challenge: Moorestown, which I helped organize.  Iron Cupcake Challenge is a regional cupcake challenge that so far is in just a couple cities across the US.  I've only seen it in San Francisco and Milwaukee, where it originated.

For those of you unfamiliar with Iron Cupcake, it's run almost like the show Iron Chef. There's a "secret ingredient" that all bakers have to use in their creations.  The challenges always benefit a charity, so its all for a good cause too!

This challenge benefitted Alex's Lemonade Stand, so of course the secrety flavor was lemon!  There were all kind of flavors... lemon meringue, strawberry lemonade, blueberries and lemon, lemonheads, lemonsicle... ok I'm starting to feel like Bubba from Forrest Gump.

We were very fortunate to have Alan Richardson serve as a judge!  His name might not ring a bell, but I'm certain you've all seen his books Hello, Cupcake! and What's New, Cupake?.  He was so nice to chat with, and even let us get a sneak peek of his new book -  but we were sworn to secrecy!

Here are some of my favorites...  to see the other entries, please visit ICCM's Facebook page.

"It's so hot you could fry an egg!"

"Summertime Picnic"

"Blue Ribbon Lemon Meringue Pie"

xoxo,
  Kim
