Melted Mess Giveaway!

Howdy, howdy!  Well its currently 95 here in New Jersey, on its way to reach 101, with a heat index of 115!  I'm half-tempted to go see if I could cook an egg on the sidewalk, but frankly, I don't feel like cleaning up the mess :)

My heart goes out to all you bakers who have to fulfill orders in these conditions!  So many of you have written about how pops are falling off the sticks, or creations are melting.  Sometimes when life hands you lemons, you have to make lemonade, right?  So I've decided to do my first blog giveaway!

Get out your cameras, and send me pictures of your Melted Mess, and one of you will win this absolutely adorable ceramic cupcake mini cookie jar!  It's about 6" tall; click on pic to enlarge the image.

  1. It's so hot here in Phoenix! During the entire month of July, I don't believe the temp dropped below 100. That's just ridiculous if you ask me ;) I made 3 dozen pops for a baby shower the other day and half of them cracked and four of them fell off the stick while dipping :( It was no fun, needless to say. So anyway, until the temp cools down, who knows how much I will actually get done!

Hi Kim, Our daily temp here in San Antonio, TX is close to 100 degree's. I started making and selling pops last Dec. and although I considered shipping during this year I can't even imagine how it would be possible with this heat. One hot mess in Texas ;)

It's been HOT HOT HOT here in York County, PA! Fortunately my cake & pops order made it though the hot weather safely to thier party but I had the AC cranked in the house for 'insurance'! Spent the weekend in Baltimore with all time record high temps!

Last week I did 6 dozen pops and unfortunately they 'filmed' in the drying process. I guess it was just a tad too warm and humid in the house but I just added some swirls and fondant flowers to help hide the cloudiness! Customer was happy with the additions I made and didn't mind the slight whiteness.

  5. I will try to get a picture of the 30th birthday cake after about an hour of being at the party...I should have made it the leaning tower of pisa instead LMAO! We had to cut it before dinner was over so it was upright for the birthday girl :)

  7. In MN my A/C went out before the kiddo's birthdays and half my pops cracked because I didn't want to risk them melting so I (mostly) froze them. They were ladybugs, so I just made the back line on the crack where I could. At least they didn't fall off!

  8. Hot? Heat? Humidity? All to familiar here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland! Cake pops I made this weekend lost quite a few while making them however AC cranked up in the pickup for almost a hour before the party insured they got there in cake pop piece! Heat index was around 120 here this weekend, the pool was like a hot tub, not cool at all!

  9. Hi Kim - I am in Redford, MI and have been testing beach themed cake balls and cupcakes for my baby sisters 16th birthday coming up in August... With no Central Air and temperatures over 90 the past week it's been a disaster! My boyfriend loves it though because he gets the leftovers and 'disaster' cakes! And on our last shopping trip for cake supplies our puppy got a new pool to relax in - that I might just be sharing with him this afternoon!

  10. The heat here in New York reached an unbearable 105 (or maybe more because it sure felt like it)& I was doing a small order of pops that were not cooperating. The chocolate was drying so fast that getting the sprinkles to stick was difficult and then as the pops dried the chocolate started to crack on some. Thankfully though it all turned out well. It wasn't even hot in my house as I had my air conditioning on so I couldn't understand why this was happening. Needless to say I am hoping this humidy doesn't return anytime soon as I have a large order of 200 pops coming up in the next two weeks!

  11. Well ladies and gentleman it's hot here in Columbus, Ohio as well so reached 117 on Saturday..the day I was displaying a Mickey Mouse themed event...I guess I was lucky because my cake pops turned out perfect and didn't melt on the way to the event...hmmm something usually cracks in normal weather...maybe the heat was on my side!! The only thing that could of made it better was ordering the cake pop stand sooner!! I did some owls up this morning and they worked out great as well...did I mention the AC has been working full time for the past week!! Better run there are kids to be fed and cake pops to be dipped!! Enjoy the heat...we don't have to shovel sun!!
